Live Stage: Art and Politics Forum [us Los Angeles]

Open Forum on Art and Politics :: October 15, 2008; 7 - 9 pm :: REDCAT, CalArts Theater, 631 West 2nd Street, Los Angeles, CA.

The economic crisis did not happen overnight. While Obama and McCain discuss more government oversight of federal agencies, how do we continue doing work to have more community oversight of our government? Trade&Row, in conjunction with Exchange Rate: 2008, hosts an open- forum discussion with artist-organizers who use their work to motivate political discussions in the community. While the final presidential debate comes to a close, join the following participants to discuss art and community involvement in the political process.

Ricardo Dominguez, performer of Cesar Chavez’s speech We Are Also Responsible as part of the Port Huron Project; Jessica Lawless: Co-organizer, The Audacity of Desperation; Elana Mann: Organizer, Exchange Rate: 2008; Joella March: Curator, Just How Does A Patriot Act; Linda Pollack: curator, Patriot Acts, part of the Future of Nations and The Habeas Index.
