Urban Screens Melbourne 08 is the third, ground-breaking international conference and multimedia exhibition in a series of worldwide events around the redefinition of a growing digital infrastructure of moving images in public space. It will mark the official launch of the International Urban Screens Association and will take place at Federation Square, Melbourne. Federation Square is a unique cultural and community oriented multimedia precinct, centred around a significant 38m2 public LED screen. Continue reading

Media Archeology: Live and Televised [us Houston]

aurora.jpgAurora Picture Show, recognized as the most innovative microcinema in Texas, presents the fifth annual Media Archeology Festival April 17-19, 2008. Curated by Aurora Artistic Director Andrea Grover and New York musician/curator Nick Hallett, this year’s festival is titled Media Archeology: Live and Televised and features multimedia artists who incorporate audio/visual technology with live performance. Each of the performers uses pre- recorded video and audio to create a mise-en-scène of projected sets, props, and environments- sometimes creating a stage, a sound-scape, or an entire cast. Reblogged The Pepitasausage Racetrack

racetrack.jpgThe Pepitasausage Racetrack is an online art piece by Danish artist, Jette Gejl Christensen. The piece is part of a project called ‘pop-up art’ in which artist from Århus, Denmark are invited to create digital art pieces for virtual pop-up windows in a web browser. This piece presents an endless pepita-textured tunnel in which the camera travels like a race car. Once in a while the ‘car’ crashes, causing the camera to move outside the pepita-sausage as if it was floating in space. The car will always find its way back inside the tunnel where it’ll continue its endless loop. Continue reading

Disperse. Exclamatory Phase

disperse.jpgIn 1964, Italian artists Alberto Grifi and Gianfranco Baruchello gave birth to one of the most interesting and significant experiments in the fields of art and cinema: Uncertain Verification, a paradoxical assemblage of cinematographic extracts taken from over 450,000 feet of Hollywood footage from the 50s, originally destined to be destroyed and purchased for the price of 15.000 liras.

Over forty years later, the imaginary art-group Les Liens Invisibles are reinterpreting and re-actualizing Grifi’s and Baruchello’s deconstructive action in order to complete the originally planned conceptual dissolution, picking up where the two artists left off, at the unfinished phase of dispersion, the Disperse.
