Live Stage: Radio Wonderland Duets [NYC]
RADIO WONDERLAND {–shoes, steering wheel, boombox, laptop–} {-turning live radio into recombinant funk-} :: “Computer sound processing controlled by steering wheel, shoes–do you call that a musical instrument?” Well, check out a couple of actual duets with two astounding downtown musicians. South (between Thompson & Sullivan) :: Admission by donation (Free for NYU). DUET with Dafna Naphtali, voice and processing –She’s a prodigious processor, audio maven, virtuoso soprano, and a fixture in downtown’s free improv, new music, and laptop / alternative controller scenes.
TODD REYNOLDS :: Composers’ Collaborative Serial Underground :: May 14, 8:30 pm 2007 :: Cornelia Street Cafe, 29 Cornelia St. (near 6th Av & W. 4th) * $15 :: DUET with Todd Reynolds, violin and processing. He’s one of the best violinists I’ve heard, and a longtime member of Bang On A Can, Steve Reich and Musicians and Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project. With short videos curated by Ken Cro-Ken, members of First Avenue, and a “corporate motivational speaker”!
