Jost Muxfeldt - Audio Kinematics: Jost Muxfeldt has lived in the US as well as in Germany. He studied both music and philosophy. In 1991 he moved to Berlin, where he began working as an artist and composer, independently as well as with other artists. ”Audio Kinematics” works with the idea of kinematic relations on the level of sound: a virtual audio sculpture. It utilizes the spatial relations and proportions of a mechanical structure to determine various parameters of a sound composition, and creates a kind of virtual kinetic sound sculpture. Whether the sound is visualized or the speeding diagrams are set to sound is unimportant. It is a total art work which addresses both senses. One does not have to understand the explanations about sine waves, amplitude modulations, kinematics, or binary tree structures in order to enjoy this work.

Kurt Hentschläger - FEED: New York-based Austrian artist Kurt Hentschläger creates audiovisual compositions in which audio and video actuate one another. The immersive nature of his work reflects on the metaphor of the sublime. Between 1992 and 2003 he worked collaboratively as a part of the duo Granular-Synthesis. Employing large scale projected images and drone like sound environments, his multi channel performances and installations triggered the viewer on both physical and emotional levels, overwhelming the audience with sensory information. His more recent solo work is more poetic and further researches the nature of human perception and the accelerated impact of new technologies on individual consciousness. Premiered at the 2005 Venice Theatre Biennial, “FEED” is an immersive performance in which the audience is subjected to effects and shifting mood in an artificial environment without performers in the flesh. The combination of suspended 3D projections, artificial fog, pulse- and stroboscopic light, induces a complete loss of spatial orientation, without depth of field. A matching soundscape infused by feedback and intense sub-low bass augments this impression, and generates a heightened physical experience.

Tres - Blackout Concert # 20: Tres’ work revolves around the investigation of and experimentation with silence. His silent cocktails and concerts, his Blackout performances, his music and videos, his installations, and the ceremonies he has organized, are some of the very diverse ways in which Tres has researched and translated silent experiences for more than fifteen years now. These pieces all have a common denominator, that of experimenting with the alternative ways in which the individual relates to himself, to others and to his environment. Tres’ Blackout Concerts consist of attentive listening to the machine derived buzz present in the venues where they take place. During the concerts these sounds are gradually switched off and create different moments of silence based on their location and intensity. The concerts end when the maximum level of silence and darkness is reached. “Blackout # 20” will be the closing event of Sonarama 2007.
