Sharon Cheslow’s Sonic Triptych III is a sound event for multiple, random sets of 3 performers situated in a triptych - left, center, right - and interwoven like a round. Performers are instructed to represent themselves through sound-producing actions of their choice as a means of facilitating participatory and collaborative action. Previous versions of Sonic Triptych were presented at Illuminated Corridor (2006) and Ladyfest Bay Area (2002). This will be its Los Angeles premiere.
Sharon Cheslow is a musician and sound/visual artist whose works have been presented across the US and Europe in parking lots, art spaces, clubs, museums, galleries, warehouses, concert halls, homes, publications, and on the labels Kill Rock Stars and Decomposition among others.
Participants will include: Eva Aguila - electronics; Ori Barel - laptop; Sharon Cheslow - oscillator, blender, voice, hands; Aaron Drake - flute and/or microphone; John Hastings - guitar, objects; David Kendall - harmonium, modular synthesizer; Steve Kim - radio, electronics; Grace Lee - voice, trumpet and/or recorder; Eric Lindley - voice; Brian Miller - electronics; Anna Oxygen - voice, electronics; Michael Parker - eyelids; Sara Roberts - earbees handheld loop recorders; Bita Sharif - laptop; Dean Spunt - drums and/or voice.
