NoiseFold
NoiseFold , composed and recently performed by David Stout and Cory Metcalf as part of Harvestworks’ “Crackle, Noise, & Light” at The New York Electronic Art Festival, is an interactive visual-music-noise performance. In it Stout and Metcalf perform a series of “real time” 3-D animations that both create and respond to sound. The abstract visual forms resemble single-celled forms and organic architectures. Stout and Metcalf animate, coax, blend and herd these forms using cameras, microphones, electro-magnetic and infrared sensors. The result is an ongoing theater of forms, vortices and oblique spirals, and loud, chaotic rhythms and shimmering sonic textures. Listen here.
