Carl Stone will perform as part of the San Francisco International Arts Festival, with ensemble Melody of China as it presents a concert of new and traditional music that both celebrates the past and points to a new direction in modern culture. The event features Carl Stone’s new work, performed by the ensemble along with Hong Wang on erhu, (bowed, single string instrument) and Wei Wu on sheng (mouth organ). In addition to Stone’s new work, Hong Wang and Melody of China also perform traditional music on the matouqin (Mongolian horse head fiddle), bringing ancient folk melodies to life.
