Latin American Electroacoustic Music Collection

Mr. Dal Farra received permission from 33 Latin-American composers to post an additional 200 audio files on the Foundation’s Web site. In all, 231 electroacoustic pieces are now available online, which translates into more than 40 hours of music. Continue reading

David Morneau's music podcasts to conclude

david_morneau.jpgDavid Morneau will bring his composition-a-day project, 60×365, to an end on June 30th. You can hear the conclusion by visiting http://60×365.com

Every day for the past year, Morneau has composed and posted a new sixty-second composition. That’s just over six hours of new music in sixty-second installments. For this project, Morneau explored a wide variety of musical styles and techniques, including musique concrète, sine wave synthesis, digital sampling, 8-bit constructions, process music, acousmatic composition, and post-techno beat manipulations. He found the requirement to make a new, complete piece every day an exhilarating challenge, and reveled in the constant variety of ideas the project embraced. This project began as a challenge to compose more, and ended up as an audio diary of the past year. Continue reading

Observatori Festival [es Valencia]

observatori2008_370.jpgNovi_sad will be performing — a set previously commissioned by the National Dutch radio VPRO — live at Observatori Festival, Valencia, Spain :: June 22, 2008; 5:00 pm :: Centro del Carmen C/ Museo, 3 (’Carmen’ Quarter).

Observatori is an international festival of contemporary art, running since 2000, programming diverse artists and projects across different art forms. This year, the programme includes three components: the exhibition After the Net curated by KURATOR for La Agencia, performances About Blank, and media workshops run by students from MA Visual Arts and Multimedia programme at the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia. Also appearing in the festival are Jacob Kirkegaard, Chop Shop (Scott Konzelman), Sudden Infant, G*Park, Michael Prime, Francisco López, Paul Bradley. Continue reading

A small group of performers, each with a large container, separates a diverse selection of dried beans into individually amplified ceramic bowls. The act of separating the beans creates a wonderfully complicated delicate rhythm as each of the bowls are distributed into the 16 speakers of the grid. Continue reading
