Net_Music_Weekly: Metamkine

metamparcours.jpgLa Cellule d’Intervention Metamkine is an open-ended group including musicians and filmmakers researching the relationship between image and sound. Through the magic of mirrors, multiple projectors and highly ingenious live on stage editing, Metamkine produces and directs a new film with each of their performances. Working around a core narrative, they spill eddies of impromptu vignettes, accompanied by a live soundtrack of tape fragments and ancient synthesiser sounds. Jérôme Noetinger (electroacoustics), Christophe Auger (projectors 16mm), and Xavier Quérel (projectors 16mm) — who have worked together for ten years — have succeeded in pushing the boundaries of film and soundtrack into the realm of live performance. Pixels into Music

rgb_musiclab.jpgRGB musiclab: pixels into music - There’s a downloadable freeware application that converts the RGB (Red, Green & Blue) values of an image to chromatic scale sounds. The program reads RGB value of pixels from the top left to the bottom right of an image. 1 pixel makes a harmony of three note of RGB value, & the length of note is determined by brightness of the pixel. Art's Birthday 2008 [at Vienna]

picture-2.pngINVITATION TO JOIN KUNSTRADIO’S CELEBRATION OF ART’S BIRTHDAY 2008! Celebrating Art’s Birthday is a tradition started by French Fluxus artist Robert Filliou who declared, on January 17th 1963, that Art had been born exactly 1,000,000 years ago when somebody dropped a dry sponge into a bucket of water.

Throughout the last decades artists have continued organising annual celebrations in the spirit of Filliou’s “Eternal Network” or “La Fête permanente”. In 2008 people all over the world will again be preparing numerous networked birthday parties for art, several of these under the motto “Forever Young”. Continue reading

Live Stage: Bodycoder - Voice [uk London]

watersmall.jpgBodycoder - Voice :: November 22, 2007; 7.45 pm :: Watermans, 40 High Street, Brentford, London.

This unique solo-show is a multi-media revelation of the human voice and its unimaginable intensity. Ten years research into human body movement, multi-sensory perception environments and digital processing has brought about this exceptional show performed by Julie Wilson-Bokowiec. Bodycoder - Voice is part of an ongoing experiment in connecting body movements with sound, intertwining the sensual with the sonic. The experiments render the voice multidimensional and examine how the natural movement vocabulary of the body can become an expressive medium and create and manipulate sound. Continue reading
