Workspace Residency [us NYC]

space1.jpgLMCC is excited to announce the Open Call for the 2008-2009 Workspace Artist Residency:: 2008-2009 Residency Dates: Tuesday, September 9, 2008 - Friday, May 22, 2009 :: Deadline for application submission is 5 PM THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2008 :: Applications ware being accepted now.

The 2008-2009 Workspace Residency will be located on the 29th floor of 120 Broadway in the Financial District. The program offers free studio space for 9 months, a small stipend and access to a community of peers and experts as well as exposure to new audiences at public programs like the final Open Studio Weekend.

Workspace is open to emerging and early-career professional artists working in all disciplines including Drawing, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Film/Video, Installation/Mixed Media, Sound, Performance and New Media/Computer Arts. Continue reading

European Sound Delta

europsound.jpgEuropean Sound Delta :: Call for Sound Art Projects & Residencies for Summer 2008 :: Deadline: March 15, 2008.

European Sound Delta is a mobile project on the Danube & Rhine Rivers focusing on radio-art using sounds of European cities. Two teams will be travelling on both rivers this summer, recording sounds, producing live performances and radio broadcasts with local sound-artists. A final exhibition is scheduled in Strasbourg by the end of September 2008 as part of Ososphere. International sound artists are invited to apply with a project meant to be created on one of the trans-European floating labs. Continue reading

Mamori Sound Project [br Amazon]

lopez2005-21.jpgMamori Sound Project :: Workshop / Residency for Sound Artists at Mamori Lake (Amazon, Brazil); Conceived and directed by Francisco López :: November - December, 2008 (2 weeks) :: Deadline for Applications: March 31, 2008.

Mamori Sound Project is professional and semi-professional artists with previous experience in the area of sound experimentation and field recordings. It takes place at Mamori Lake, in the middle of the Brazilian Amazon, and involves theoretical / discussion presentations, field work and studio work. The workshop / residency has a special focus on creative approaches to the work with field recordings, through an extensive exploration of natural sound environments. It does not have a technical character but is instead conceived and directed towards the development and realization of a collective project of sonic creation with the interaction of all participant artists. Paris Residency for NYC artist

parisphotos.jpgOpen Call for NYC Artist :: 6 Month Paris Residency :: Deadline for All Application Materials: February 21, 2008; 5:00 pm.

The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) and the Mayor’s of the City of Paris, in collaboration with the Cultural Services Department at the French Embassy in New York, are partnering once again to provide one New York City artist with the opportunity to live and work at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France. LMCC is currently inviting artists to submit applications for this special residency. One artist will be selected to be in residence for 6 consecutive months, from September 2008 – February 2009.

LEMUR ReSiDeNt: Call for Submissions

lemurbots.jpgLEMUR announces ReSiDeNt, a major new residency and performance/installation series :: Open Call for Submissions: Deadline: December 17, 2007. Artists from all performing and installation disciplines are encouraged to apply, including musicians, composers, dancers, choreographers, video artists, interactive installation artists, performance artists, multimedia artists and others.

In January 2008, LEMUR will inaugurate ReSiDeNt, a unique new creator-in-residence program, hosted at LEMUR’s Brooklyn space in Park Slope. Each month, we will award three artists a month-long residency at LEMUR, enabling them to create a work utilizing LEMUR’s resources, including robotic musical instruments, MIDI audio/video controllers, video projection and tracking system and more. Each group of residencies will culminate in a public show at LEMUR at the end of the month. Continue reading

Harvestworks Deadline Extended

harvestworks.jpgNew Works Residency 2008 :: Deadline extended to November 23, 2007; 6pm: The Harvestworks Artist In Residence Program offers commissions of up to $4000 to make a new work in our state of the art digital media facility. Each artist receives a $1,000 fee with the balance of the award posted in a’ “facilities account” which is used to manage and produce the work. European Media Artists in Residence Exchange

With support of the European Union - Culture 2007-2013 programme, the newly established European Media Art Network will host 16 European Media Artists in Residence Exchanges within 2008 and 2009 and organise a final exhibition in 2009 in Halle (Saale) additional to individual presentations. Two-month Residency at IMPAKT

The 13th European Media Artists in Residence Exchange will take place from Autumn 2007 to Spring 2008. Europe based Media Artists in the fields of digital media including internet and computer based art, filmmakers, sound and video artists are invited to apply for a two months residence based stipend at IMPAKT (Utrecht, The Netherlands) or at Werkleitz Gesellschaft’s Center for Media Arts (Halle, Germany).
